Post-GGC Feats of Strength Video
Following last month's Global Grip Challenge, much like the Seinfeld holiday, Festivus, we did Feats of Strength in my yard. In this video however, you will not see George Costanza
and his dad wrestling. Instead, you will see Chad Woodall and I trying various feats with the Inch Dumbell, blobs, and block weights. You will also see Brendan Dwyer going for a
7-inch by 3/8ths inch round piece of brass with very little leather wrapping.
Hope you enjoy.
Global Grip Challenge 2007 Write-up

Strength for their athletes. Now I am proud to offer this product! -Jedd-

Sick of your athletes going down to ankle sprains? Maybe you are tired of sitting out rounds, innings, and periods due to ankle injuries? I broke my right ankle my Junior year in
high school and hated every minute I sat on the bench waiting to heal. Of course, back then, Jerry Shreck wasnt pumping out articles like this. Check out this latest piece from the Bucknell
Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is the third part in his Functional Injury Prevention Series. Read this now and increase your athletes resiliency.
I have just received confirmation that IronMind will be sponsoring the Global Grip Challenge again this year.

Michigan Grip Championship!
Over the past weekend, I was in Three Rivers, Michigan, competing in the Michigan Grip Championship. Here are just a couple of videos from
that contest. In the first I bend a 7 inch 5 / 16 diameter Grade 5 bolt, known as the Edgin, named after Clay Edgin. The second video is of Ryan
Klein, who set a new world record in the vertical bar lift.
APT Pro Wrist Straps will be sponsoring the Global Grip Challenge again this year. They have upgraded their Wrist Wraps to 2 inch Wide Velcro and 1/2 Wide Thumb loops, and they have upgraded their
knee wraps. Alan Thomas is one of the leaders of all sponsors of strength sports these days. Rarely can you go to a Grip or Strongman contest and not see his support their.
We appreciate all of our excellent sponsors. Look for more on this coming soon.

Congratulations to my favorite wrestler, the Undertaker, for his win against Batista tonight at Wrestlemania!
The undefeated streak at Wrestlemania is still intact, despite rumors to the contrary! Undertaker - the new World Champion.
Another New Rob Orlando Video!
Rob has now kicked it up a notch. This young strongman competitor is, without a doubt, a beast! This new video shows Rob laying the smackdown on 345 lbs.
Remember the video of Rob dominating the Thomas Inch Dumbbell Replica? WATCH IT AGAIN - He has uploaded it to his YouTube account!
Rob has a big competition coming up and we'll keep you posted right here at DIESEL.
Mike Miller. You know him as the man from Nazareth Barbell with the biggest squat in the world. But Mike has changed directions with his career and I was
lucky recently to conduct an interview with him. Click the image above to see what Mike has been up to lately.
Check out the button located to your left. It is a button to submit a donation for the first fundraiser we're having here
on the Diesel site! Chad Woodall and Scott George, two of the top US Grip athletes, are going over to Germany to
compete in the Münsterland Grip Challenge in May.
WE NEED TO SUPPORT THEM! 100% of all the money collected with this fundraiser goes directly to them to split and offset the costs
of their trip. This is one of the very few times US Grip Athletes have had a chance to compete against their European
counterparts. Let's rally behind them!
If you've come to the Diesel site for years and enjoyed the site, give these guys a few bucks to help them out.
Thank you to EVERYONE!

Here is Rob beating the current NAS overhead press record of 315, banging out rep after rep with 325!

Cary Kolat Highlight Reel
One of my idols when I was wrestling in highschool was Cary Kolat. Amazing genetics, amazing talent, amazing speed - if you've never heard of him - he was the Cael Sanderson of his time. 137-0 Highschool record!!! - and a lifetime of achievements on his bio page!
Too OLD to train? Dont tell that to Joe Mugovero, of the Breakfastclub Gym in New England. Joe won the Rolling Thunder
contest that we ran following the 2005 Massachusetts Strongest Man contest, and recently wrote me the following about his progress over the
last couple of years training on the Inch Dumbbell Replica:
Jedd, I have been training the Thomas Inch Dumbbell and finally made my goal. I fully deadlifted to lockout the Thomas Inch Dumbbell
58 times (singles) at the age of 58. Today, at age 58.5 I made numbers 58, 59 and 60. No lift was considered that did not make it to full
lockout and every lift was witnessed by one or more members of the Breakfastclub Gym. Enclosed is one of those lifts.
Joe has supported us over the years, and it is my honor to announce him as the February Diesel Athlete of the Month.
To print out your application, click on the image above, and go down the page until you find the same image. You can't miss it.
Here are the events and rules. Dave Memont's contests are always a bit different than other grip contests.

New Diesel Video
A compilation of some upper back work with some heavy rows. Some stuff is done with straps some without. I could only manage 1 rep, left-handed with the 195 - no straps. We were trying to stay as tight as possible and not throw the weight.
I didn't think there were enough blogs out there related to strength, so I put together another one. It also features insight on Wrestling and Music, especially my
favorite musical performer, Mike Patton. Click on the image above to view this masterpiece Blog. New Grip Clips have been added, so get over there and have a look. I even have
a newsletter sign-up so you never miss a thing. -Jedd-
Jedd here with a new feature: the Diesel Athlete of the Month. For January, the Diesel Athlete is Chris Muir
from Painesville, Ohio. In the Spring of 2006, Chris called the Diesel Hotline. He was working on loading his 380 atlas stone, but was
hitting a wall. We worked out some Diesel strategies for atlas stone training, and within a couple of months I got a call back. Determined and dedicated, he employed the
strategies and got it done in a big way! Click above for the video: 380 atlas stone at 195 bodyweight. THATS DIESEL! Congrats Chris!

c. One of my responses for grip specific deadlift advice - check it out.
I want to thank everyone for the tons of emails and inquiries about the Chaos Training manual. It is coming soon and trust me, it will be huge! After it is released you will see it everywhere, because after polling my network on contacts - they all want to sell it on their sites! We have a ton of video footage, new article ideas, new products and some very exciting (BIG!) announcements coming in 2007. Hang on - Diesel will be all over the place
I want to thank everyone also for all of your testimonials. I have a massive amount to get up on the site!
I just brought on another athlete. His name is Casey Baker and he is a baseball player. He is an amazing athlete and shredded at 180 lbs. I am looking to put some muscle on him before he gets a call - he currently is a free agent. After his needs analysis, we are going to be working on his flexibility and mobility, his grip strength, his absolute strength and his speed - basically everything. We are
going to start at square one and build him up. You will all be able to watch his progress.
Amazing Explosive Strength!
Everyone knows that starting strength refers to motor unit recruitment and explosive strength refers to how quickly movement occurs after this MU recruitment. Relative strength defines strength per bodyweight. A lot of these things are being displayed in this clip. A much smaller wrestler elevates his 420 lb opponent.
Chris Rice, multiple-year competitor at the Global Grip Challenge, recently held his own Strength Gathering at his facility in Ohio, and he bent
the IronMind Red Nail. No Barriers for the Strength Veteran! Congrats, Chris!
THE WAIT IS OVER! It's finally here! Diesel Crew presents The Nail Bending eBook.

You can never get enough thick phone books!
All athletes will benefit from a strong Grip. Use these videos for new ideas to challenge your atheletes in the gym. Most gyms have broken
dumbbells. Use them to strengthen your athletes hands. Get your hands on some scale weights or two light kettlebells and do holds for time
for serious Grip endurance. And the bomb lift can be replicated with a softball, an eye-bolt, and a chain! Go for it!

The Diesel Crew will be in Connecticut for Stronger Than All 2006 again.
This contest was huge last year! Along the lines of sheer numbers of athletes, it was the biggest we attended in all of 2005.
The VENUE is a huge indoor facility, so even if it turns out to be the coldest March in recorded history, we should all be comfortable inside.
Once again we will hold The World Series of Grip on the sidelines of the Strongman contest.
The World Series of Grip is a Grip challenge that features many Grip Feats of Strength. Grip, as a sport,
continues to grow and more beasts keep popping up. Last year, several beastly athletes at the contest were able to lift the Thomas Inch Replica
dumbbell to lockout the first time seeing it, including Robert T.T. McCray, Big Tom McClure, and Marcel Pelletier. Who will surprise us this year???
Several of The Diesel Crew will be competing. In fact preparation for this Big Event will begin soon.
Not even the recent cold weather will keep the Crew from hitting some PRs in this Show.
Total Performance Sports (TPS.com) in Everett Mass held the second installment of Grip Assault - Mark Bruno took first place.
This show was held as a charity fundraiser for a local young man, Billy, age 26, who needs two pulmonary lobes transplanted. Congratulations,
Bruno, and well done to Murph and Dave of TPS who show once again why they are class acts in the Strength World, not just for producing leaders
in Strongman and other areas of martial arts and fitness, but also in kindness. After the show, Jane Stabile, a competitor in the ladies
division had this to say on the Gripboard:
"As you attend holiday parties over the next few weeks, I hope everyone ... will spread the word to their friends who might be able to be living
donors. Billy needs one lung lobe (you have five of them) from each of two people who are healthy nonsmokers, at least 5'7", with blood type AB.
Great chance to do something truly good, and you could expect a complete recovery. How often do you get a chance to save someone's life? Julie
Whitson can be reached at 617-721-9794 or JulieWhitson@rcn.com, and the web site where people can learn more is www.nicelungs.com."
Great job again to all those who competed, and our boys at TPS for putting on a great event to benefit Billy.
Steve Cotter, CSCS, RKC, Sr. - is an awesome guy with some big ideas. Steve is recognized as a leader in the Kettlebell community and you will see why - check out his groundbreaking interview!
This video is one of my best ever - it shows Bent Pressing, 12" Log Pressing, heavy Front Squats and a 17 year old freak - with 7" hands fully deadlifting a York BLOB. This is an amazing feat by anyone, but for someone with small hands it becomes ELITE - great job Brad!!!
A Diesel Video is not just a video - it is an experience. This one is no different. Look for Old School "Olympic Pressing", Spike Bending, Tricep Lockouts with a 12" Log and Doubled Mini-bands, Push Pressing an Axle with Purple Bands and some Kettlebell fun.

Smitty took an "L" on this one - catching a KB spinning fast can create a lot of hurt - happened in the middle of the workout - had to keep going til the end - you know how we do it!
I kicked it up a notch in this Kettlebell video. This is a montage of "The Double" flip of the 95 lb Kettlebell. Once again - we wouldn't be here without each of you supporting us - so thank you!
Jedd and I definitely draw inspiration from the strong men who came before us. This video is dedicated to Tradition and also to all of our supporters. What you'll see is two very difficult feats with a 95 lb kettlebell. I was thankfully able to hit a double forward flip and Jedd hit a bell press into a forward flip. The double flip is triple extension at its best and the bell up press is unbelievably difficult for the shoulder and core. Thank you everyone for your support.
What has Rick been up to? Training hard and hitting some big weight. Here he is smoking 635 lbs and dominating a 20" Atlas Stone. Rick works long hours and still has time to be with his family, train and write awesome articles. Thanks for checking in Rick - and he has recently promised me a new article - so check back soon!
Jim has a great attitude and is ready to increase his strength foundation with new protocols - he came to the right place - huge Sotts Press in this one!
Jim Storch's prodigy, this kid has been relentless over the last 3 years and never misses a workout - huge future in the sport for him
Jedd and I field tons of email everyday from trainers, strength coaches, fitness professionals and regular people - who love fitness and enjoy our site. We are going to be starting a Testimonial page on the site to display all your kind words. A big thank you to everyone that supports us and the Diesel Site - we wouldn't be here without your loyal support!
Hey Diesel guys!
I'm writing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada... a few of us have started a team of strength enthusiasts, akin to your Crew. We call ourselves Team Barbarian. There's 6 of us at the core of the group, with a few other guys in Toronto that jump in for training every now and then.
Most of us have competed (Strongman) and trained independently before, but we're noticing improvements in performance since we started establishing a team atmosphere / training together. Hopefully we'll keep it going. You guys have been really inspirational as well (the website, esp. video clips! F**kin' hardcore!).
We've also just started videotaping some of our training sessions, so hopefully we'll have that set up by next year. We're just starting out, but if things go well we might get a website going also.
Anyway, thought I'd give you guys a shout-out... wouldn't mind corresponding from time to time about training, etc., and to pick your brains about stuff.
Talk to you soon,
RSVP

I am 25 and have been a Police Officer and Volunteer Firefighter for 4 years this October.
The town I work in is small and I am the only Officer on duty between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am.
Getting backup takes awhile. Luckily in a small town bad stuff doesn't happen too often, but when it does it hits the fan hard.
I appreciate the article, it gave me great motivation to train even harder. It could save my life one day.
I hope that the article finds its way to others in Law Enforcement as well as all people. I'll circulate it as much as possible.
Keep them coming!
Once again THANK YOU for the article, its nice to know there are people like you giving us a hand at our job.

In 2004, Diesel Crew hosted the Global Grip Challenge, a one-day hand strength contest that featured
the talent of the best Grip athletes across the United States and spanning the globe. This year, the
Diesel Crew accomplished their goal to build upon the success of their inaugural competitive effort, to cast
yet another installment of the contest recognized as the United States Grip Championships. With even
bigger talent, globally recognized and standardized equipment and events, and two of the best
imaginations that exist in the Strength and Conditioning field, Global Grip Challenge wasn't just a Grip Contest, it was an experience.

Never Give Up! Jedd is the poster boy for one more try - always an inspiration
The chest crush and lower back stability is banging on this one...
Jedd just got back from Saxonburg, PA - where Rick and him competed at the 3rd Annual Saxonburg Strength Fest. This contest was put on by Doug Hilliard, RKT, CSCS, CTMB. The Strength Fest is a fund raiser for the Mark Boring Scholarship Fund, a benefit for Knoch High School Students.
Here is Jedd's write-up before the contest - click here.
Here is Rick's write-up after the contest - click here.
Medleys are awesome ways to build muscular endurance, explosive power and absolute strength. Vary the movements from fast (DE-Dynamic Effort) to slow (ME-Max Effort) and you will get incredible benefits. Here is one example from last weekend with the Crew
In High School you might have thought Jedd was a member of the Chess Club or Choir, but he was actually an athlete. Check out this news article of Jedd's baseball coach remembering his team's success during his senior year! Click here!.
I have finally finished the 3 article series - Armwrestling - Pulling Big I, II and III. It is now featured on John Brzenk's - PullingJohn.com and IronMind.com
David Horne - Grip Legend - graciously allowed us to reprint his original articles from Iron Grip Magazine on our site. David is a strong as he is generous and we really appreciate it. Nobody has won more GRIP championsips over the last 20 years then the man himself. Thanks David!
Attention all of our loyal supporters! You may have noticed some things missing on the site recently within the last couple of days. Well, there was an issue with our website and we lost a lot of data – and I have been trying to recreate the missing information because of the large cost involved from the ISP to restore the file. Sorry for the inconvenience! We must also ask a favor from ALL of you. Even if you have done it in the past, or even very recently – please go down to our ”Get Added to the Diesel Report” section and resubmit your email address and name. We have lost this data and are currently working on creating a periodic newsletter (and rebuilding our database) that will be sent out to each of you very soon. As always – we appreciate your continued support of the Crew.

We just got back from 2005 Massachusetts State Strongman and Strongwoman Championships. The event is put on by our good friends at
Total Performance Sports. Once again this year in the 232-265 pound class, it came down to Jedd Johnson and
Harley Davidson. Last year Harley took the crown, but this year Jedd edged him out. Harley is a great competitor - very strong
in the pressing events and Grip events. It's an honor to compete against him every year. Also, Eli Thomas won a special award given to the
athlete who showed the most character. Stay tuned for a complete run down on all the weight classes
we represented in the next couple of days - for now a big thanks to our bro's at TPS for putting on a great contest and especially for CJ Murphy for his contest hospitality!
Killing grip while doing pull-up is an awesome variation. All Athletes will benefit from this non-conventional training!
Here are Jedd's videos from the 6th Annual Wise Strongman Competition. He's the big man of the Crew but he looked small compared to his competition! It was a 100 degrees in the shade that day, and most of the events were strength endurance! Check them out...
Here is the picture of world renowned author Rick Walker doing a 640lb deadlift with IronMind - Eagle Claws. You know this guy well - because he is all over our Articles Page. You're sick bro...
You think no one can take that kind of pain? Think again - here is Rick hitting a new PR - freaking 700lb deadlift using IronMind - Eagle Claws. His hands must have been screaming! Rick is a top Grip athlete and his hand strength is a testament to his dedication for strength.
You want to train with The Crew? You better come Diesel! Here's our boy Dan, on the weekend he traveled up from Maryland. Dan is also one of the top Grip Athletes in the US and will be competing in the Global Grip Challenge 2005 .

Jedd just returned from the 6th Annual Wise Strongman Competition. He took 3rd place in a tough contest - that really tested his strength endurance with many medley events and 100 degree heat. Please check back for Jedd's write-up and videos of this awesome contest.
We will be ramping up soon for the 2005 Massachusettes State Strongman Championships held in Everett, Mass. and put on by our good friends Total Performance Sports.

The 6th Annual Wise Strongman Competition will be this weekend, and Jedd will be going down to Grove City, PA to compete. Let's wish him luck - Team Diesel will be well represented

Here is Rick's Punishment video displaying his preparation for the recent Strongest Man in Pittsburgh Contest. Jedd cut this one up and it looks freaking awesome - ENJOY!!!
Well, it's that time of year again - time for the Diesel Crew to go down to Huntingdon, PA and dominate
the NSCA Pennsylvania State Clinic. We will be rolling in with the heavy hitters, Jedd and Smitty, showing the Strength
community how to do it Old School - with the Diesel Method. Last year, our presentation, along with our hands-on session, was under seige as one of the most popular - and we're
going back to leave no doubt. This Clinic has the best Strength coaches from all over the country - don't miss it if you want the most up-to-date protocols and you need those CEU's!!!
Note: We are on the first day at 1:00pm - it does not reflect this on the schedule
Humble, generous, awesome guy and freaky strong. Dennis Rogers, a friend of the Crew has appeared on many shows (Click here - too many to count!) and traveled the world. Using his raw power and devotion, he has worked many years to be on the forefront of Professional Strongmen and develop the Dennis Rogers Enterprises empire. Visit his site and check out his Media Section - you will NOT be disappointed!!!
Have you ever thought how far can I push myself? What is the limit to human potential? After you watch this DVD – you will say – "there is no limit!" Dennis Rogers and Pat Povilaitis have just released their inaugural compilation DVD – demonstrating their God given strength. All of the stuff on this DVD is "Achieving Beyond Potential", as we say here at Diesel. Dennis and Pat are good friends of ours, and besides being incredibly strong, they are humble and generous. I am proud to call them my friends and to help them promote this unbelievable display of raw power. This DVD will be added to our Gear page. So here it is - <336 Pounds of Fury!!!
Brad's hand strength has been growing exponentially! Typically, large handed individuals have a hard time with hub lifting because the center of their strength, their palm, is so far from the point of exertion -- but Jedd has driven through this to keep making strength gains...
We could show a full length movie with all the bloopers we have over the years. This is just one, hilarious example!
Grant Buhr's site!. Awesome articles, awesome resources, awesome site! Grant is a good friend of the Crew - check out his site!
Not sure if many of you know, but I'm a huge fan of MMA, Pride, UFC and Wrestling Please stop by the UFC site and support the upcoming UFC 52 fight! They have a huge fight card with Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell fighting for the Light Heavyweight title.
Awesome MMA, Pride, UFC and Wrestling site! They are hosting our Combat Grip Strength article and hopefully many more in the future. Stop by and check it out - tell them the Crew sent you!
This kid just turned 18, finished 3rd in States (Wrestling - NY), and just packed on another 10 lbs - currently weighing about 198 lbs - he throws up sick weight from a continental clean!!! Truly Amazing!!!
Jedd at Stronger Than All 2005 during the The World Series of Grip push pressing the Thomas Inch Replica Dumbbell. Trust me it is no easy feat which is why it was one of the events for the Strongman competition at the Arnold Classic 2005!!!.
