Porno Thumbs and Banana Fingers

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Hey everybody.

Sorry I haven’t posted much this week. I am working on a new clothing line. Included are leather head and chest hoods, body chains, and nut-hugging-tight pants, like the image to the right…

Just kidding.

Actually, I have been working my ass off this whole week finishing a product off that I started in 2009.

I’ve had some people asking about it recently, saying it was a logical “next step,” so I figured it was about time for me to get serious and get it done. This should be out next week…

Unforch, I’ve been working so hard that I neglected you and I apologize
. I have lots to tell you, so let’s get to it.

Napalm’s Nightmare

First off, if you picked up Home Made Strength II like many other strength enthusiasts, personal trainers, strength coaches, and athletes did, during the introductory sale, then you may have won one of the prizes, a Napalm’s Nightmare device from StrongerGrip Enterprises.

I did the drawing out of my bad ass Diesel Beanie, the last one in stock (claim it here => Diesel Crew Beanie Hat. If you want it, you better hurry. Check out the drawing to see if you won…

Congratulations to the winners. The Napalm’s Nightmare is an AWESOME device when home made by your own hands, but to get one from Ryan Pitts and Stronger Grip, as awesome as his stuff is, that is going to be extraordinary.

Grapple Grips

As you know I have the opportunity to review many products, both informational and equipment products. One of the recent reviews I got to do was for the Grapple Grips, and I must say that I like them. I have done plenty of training with them since getting them and they work great.

Below is the review video. I would have liked to have included some training footage for you guys, but unfortunately it hurts my finger injuries and I didn’t want to push it. I promise when my injuries are resolved I will shoot another video and post it for you guys.

Here are some of the exercises I have done with the Grapple Grips: Pull-ups, Pull-downs, One-Arm Swings (I have done tons of these), Hammer Curls, Waddles, and Flexed Arm Hangs. All of them were awesome. Like I said in the video, I got one of the biggest sizes to work my hands hard. You will probably want to get smaller ones if you do not have porno thumbs and banana fingers like me…

AJ Roberts Interview

On Monday, I interviewed AJ Roberts, who is probable the strongest guy I have ever sat down and had a cup of coffee with. He recently competed in the SPF (Southern Powerlifting Federation) and broke a World Record for Total (Squat + Deadlift + Bench Press).

The thing I grilled him on in particular is the mental side of his training and how he approaches it all so that he can perform at an Elite Level. The stuff he passed on to me was awesome. One thing in particular that he told me I was instantly able to implement and it helped me accomplish a substantial PR in my training.

If you want this interview, all I am asking is that you sign up for me new newsletter. You HAVE to be signed up for this newsletter in order to get this interview. If you signed up for the recent Home Made Strength II release or the Muscle Building Giveaway at the top of the page, that won’t work. You HAVE to fill out the boxes below.

I really want to keep in contact with you all when I dump this old email system, so please sign up.

The information in this interview will help you out in your strength training, your job, and any other facet of your life in which you want to perform at a high level so don’t miss out.

That’s about it for right now guys. Like I said, I am sorry for leaving the site so stagnant this week. I can ensure you that I have been plugging away!

All the best in your training.

Jordan Vezina – The Corrections

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

I opened up my YouTube account and checked out my Subscriptions the other day and couldn’t believe what I saw…

Jordan Vezina, RKC, recently uploaded his entire DVD, “The Corrections,” to YouTube.

I have had this DVD in electronic version since it first came out back in like 2008. Jordan is very knowledgeable about correcting technique and I even reviewed it prior to going to the RKC in September.

It’s not everyday that someone uploads an entire DVD on their own accord, especially a good quality one, like Jordan’s.

If you’re new to Kettlebells or if you’ve acquired some bad habits, you may want to check these out.

If you’d like to see what else Jordan has to offer, check out his YouTube Channel, his website, AverageToElite.com, and his blog, StrengthBeyondStrength.com.

Now, check out the various sections of the DVD.

The Corrections DVD – The Swing

The Corrections DVD – The Turkish Get-up

The Corrections DVD – The Goblet Squat

The Corrections DVD – The Clean

The Corrections DVD – The Snatch

Hope you enjoy it. And if you do, make sure you shoot Jordan a note at one of his sites or leave him a comment on his YouTube Channel.

All the best in your training.

Product Review – Bison 1M

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Very early on in my Strength Coach career, I heard the legendary Strength Coach, Buddy Morris, speak at one of the first seminars I ever attended.

During that seminar, Buddy said something that I thought were very profound and have stuck with me for years.

He said, “EVERYTHING works.”

Essentially what he was saying is that all programs will work for a certain time, and he was urging those of us at the clinic not to just dismiss tactics because they seem strange or if they do not fall in line with what we were currently doing

Flash forward several years to this past September 2010, at the RKC Certification. This is where I met Andrey Patenko.

At a break, he and I spoke about our other training interests and he said he had much experience in training special forces and I told him that I bent nails and competed in Grip Contests. When he found out about the sport of Grip, he immediately wanted to know more and we talked about it for the rest of the break.

Then, just before the end of the break, he began telling me about this tool he had been using for his Grip and Forearmsthe Bison 1M. He said he thought the Bison 1M would be very beneficial for Grip Athletes and I told him I’d be very interested in checking one of them out to see what I could do with it.

Andrey recently sent me one of the Bison 1M’s to review. I used it the day after receiving it and got a very good workout from it.

After a couple of workouts, I did a short review video on it, which I have posted here.

For me, the Bison-1M will be most used for high volume work, deloading, and working on flushing the wrist and forearms with blood. In the workouts I have done so far, it has shown me it is very effective in this sense.

Will the Bison-1m help you close a big Gripper or Pinch the World Record? Probably not, but as far as a sporting application like baseball or tennis, yes I think it can be useful.

I have read speculation that the Bison 1M would break if used by a serious Gripster. I do not see how someone could break one of these things unless they either tried to do so on purpose or if they unscrewed the shell too far and somehow ended up bending it or ruining the threading inside the body. The device is actually pretty heavy and seems to be made out of some pretty good quality metal.

I will also say that the resistance on this thing goes really high. For some movement patterns, the resistance can actually be TOO HIGH. However, changing between resistance levels is pretty easy and only involves rotating the body of the device.

After reviewing the Bison 1M, I am reminded of that quote by Buddy Morris, “EVERYTHING works.”

Especially in the case of the Bison 1M, I think you have to approach things with an open mind. I am glad I did that with this item, and I hope you do the same if you ever have the chance to try one out.

I want to continue working with the Bison 1M, and report back again later on. It practically takes up no room at all to store it and I can work it into my forearm training circuits with ease.

If you’d like more information on the Bison 1M, you can check out the website for the device at Sotsky.net, or check out TheGripAuthority.com to view Part II of my initial review that covers my training with it in a bit more detail.

Thanks and all the best in your training.

Jedd

P.S. I have no monetary affiliation with Sotsky.net, Andrey Patenko, or the Bison 1M. All I received for doing this review was the Bison 1M itself.

How I Broke The Record in the Two Hands Pinch

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

As many of you know, I have spent the better part of 5 years training to break the World Record in the Two Hands Pinch.

Here’s a video showing you many of the times I have tried, and failed to break the record…

Product Review: Kaos Komfort Kompression Shirts

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Hello to the Diesel Universe!

I hope this weekend has been filled with great workouts and lots of PR’s!

kaos-kompression-shirt

I’ve got a product review for everyone today:  Kaos Komfort

I know the selection out there for athletic training and compression shirts is huge and you may not be sure of what to buy in order to wear for your training, so hopefully this post can point you in the right direction!

I was recently offered a shirt for a trial and I must say I am happy with it.

Kaos has many styles of Komfort shirts to choose from but I chose the Mens Kompression tee because I recently had to toss out one of my old compression shirts because it got ripped while training the Atlas Stones.

Why do I like my Kaos shirt?

It all comes down to the 3 F’s:  Fit, Feel and comFort.

Fit – For once, someone has designed a shirt that will fit me.   With a long torso and athletic build, I can almost never get a shirt like this to fit my entire torso.  Usually, they pop up and roll up my belly, but the Kaos long sleeve Kompression tee did not do that.  In fact, it has tails on it that allow me to tuck the thing in.  Brilliant!

Feel – Obviously, since this is a Kompression tee, it is tight fitting.  What usually accompanies this tight fit is hairs getting yanked out all over my body, BUT that doesn’t seem to happen with the Kaos Kompression.

comFort – The Kaos tee I have is soft and reminds me of the little draw string pouches you put a digital camera in.  I plan on training the Atlas Stones a lot, and while they don’t always feel the best on your skin, these Kaos Kompression shirts feel just fine.

Check it out everybody, the Kaos company was nice enough to send me a complimentary shirt and I appreciate it because I wear this thing all the time.

But you know me – I’ll be honest if it is lacking something, but I haven’t found it yet in this case.  This thing is sweet.

Also, they have way more shirts available than just the Kompression line, so check them out at their site:  KaosKomfort.com.

All the best in your training.
